Bold, Colorful...& Always a Story

Vibrant, high-energy abstract paintings fill my studio. As a contemporary landscape artist working primarily in acrylics, my focus is on colorful landscape abstractions that bring the outdoors inside in an energetic and dynamic way. That energy is conveyed through the engaging compositions, expressive mark-making, layering techniques, and rich textures throughout my work. Alongside acrylics, inks, watercolor, linocut, and collage also find their way into my artwork.
Every painting begins with a photograph or a plein air study as a starting point. This is a catalyst for reinterpreting the outdoor space to convey the energy and feeling of a place. That expression comes through in my brushwork and color choices. In viewing my work, I aspire to create a deep connection with the outdoors—an invitation to look closer and rediscover a kinship with the wild world around us. When I’m not painting, I am relentlessly looking for light and shadow, interesting angles, engaging compositions, and considering how to reinterpret the scenes before me for my next painting.
At the core of what I paint, there is always a story. Storytelling has always been woven into every part of my life, and painting offers a natural, intuitive way to bring those narratives to light. Rooted in visual storytelling, my gestural brushwork and vibrant palette evoke a bridge to the outdoors that leaves room for personal reflection, inspiration, and reconnection to the land.
