Awarded an Honorable Mention at LibertyTown Arts' Golden Hour show, Northern Exposure comes straight out of a roadside stop near the U.S.–Canada border where the view was just too striking to pass by. A warm, golden glow runs throughout the entire landscape, cut through by a winding waterway in rich shades of deep blue and turquoise. Tall, majestic evergreens in bold purples and magentas anchor the scene, while shoreline grasses billow softly in the breeze. It captures that crisp, open-air pull of the northern borderlands where pausing at the water's edge lets nature completely take over and put everything back in perspective.

It's hard not to be inspired by nature. I'm always looking for that next scene to paint, noticing how a place makes me feel, looking at light and shadow, taking photos, and capturing that feeling on the canvas. And, of course, always seeing everything in full, vibrant color.
