Inspired by a friend’s sweet rescue cat who quickly stole everyone’s hearts, this piece captures calico Tris perched proudly atop a briefcase by the window, turning her back to the outdoor view to size up the room instead. Beside her, a potted plant casts a soft purple shadow against a warm peach wall framing her colorful little perch. Drawing on a love of classic British mysteries, Tris Takes the Case is an affectionate nod to curious pets on duty—a quiet moment of feline detective work that has made my friend's house feel a whole lot cozier.

It's hard not to be inspired by nature. I'm always looking for that next scene to paint, noticing how a place makes me feel, looking at light and shadow, taking photos, and capturing that feeling on the canvas. And, of course, always seeing everything in full, vibrant color.
